A stealth-mode defense startup is looking for a talented Mechanical Design Engineer with at least 2 years of hands-on experience in heavy mechanical structures and multidisciplinary systems. This role is ideal for engineers experienced in designing robust, large-scale mechanical systems.
What you’ll do:
• Design complex multidisciplinary systems from the ground up, including moving mechanisms, heavy structures, and load-bearing assemblies
• Translate demanding engineering requirements into complete mechanical solutions
• Perform mechanical calculations, strength analyses, and structural assessments
• Design for challenging operational environments, including high loads, corrosion, vibration, and harsh marine conditions
• Develop full mechanical designs using SolidWorks
• Select the most suitable manufacturing technologies, including machining, laser cutting, casting, and additional production methods
• Produce detailed engineering drawings and specifications for suppliers and manufacturing partners
• Work closely with procurement and suppliers throughout quoting and production processes
• Provide end-to-end engineering support during manufacturing, assembly, integration, and field testing
Requirements:
• At least 2 years of experience in mechanical design of heavy structures, mechanisms, or complex mechanical systems
• Strong experience with machining and traditional mechanical manufacturing technologies
• Proficiency in SolidWorks
• Experience producing detailed manufacturing drawings
• Strong understanding of materials, tolerances, loads, and structural design principles
• Ability to take full ownership of a mechanical system – from initial requirement through production and testing
• Hands-on, practical, and highly independent engineering mindset
