A successful fintech startup is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer (Node.js) to join its core engineering team and help build a global payment platform for digital businesses.
The company is creating an alternative commerce infrastructure that allows app publishers to manage payments, digital transactions, and monetization outside traditional app-store ecosystems. The platform operates at significant scale and supports complex, business-critical financial flows.
This role is suited for a senior engineer who enjoys solving architectural challenges, owning production systems, and building reliable backend services in a fast-growing environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and scale backend services using Node.js and TypeScript
• Take full ownership of complex features, from planning and design through deployment and optimization
• Design APIs, microservices, data models, and asynchronous workflows
• Build reliable systems for high-volume and transaction-sensitive environments
• Improve service performance, resilience, observability, and infrastructure efficiency
• Work closely with Product and other engineering stakeholders on technical solutions
• Lead technical discussions, contribute to code and design reviews, and support other engineers
• Help improve engineering processes, tools, and architecture as the organization grows
Required Experience
• 8+ years of experience in backend engineering or building end-to-end web systems
• Deep hands-on experience with Node.js and TypeScript
• Strong background in microservices and distributed system design
• Experience developing and maintaining production-grade systems at scale
• Practical experience with AWS or another cloud environment
• Experience with MongoDB or other NoSQL databases and caching technologies such as Redis
• Familiarity with Docker and modern deployment environments
• Strong understanding of system architecture, APIs, performance, and reliability
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a high level of technical ownership
