A newly launched cybersecurity startup, backed by significant funding, is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join a small, highly technical team building a new security platform from the ground up.
This is a hands-on role with broad ownership across architecture, development, and production. You will work in a zero-legacy environment, build modern backend infrastructure, and contribute to AI-powered product capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
• Design and build scalable backend services using Python and FastAPI
• Own features end to end, from architecture through deployment and monitoring
• Develop reliable APIs, data models, and distributed workflows
• Build backend infrastructure supporting LLM and RAG-based capabilities
• Work with PostgreSQL and modern ORM frameworks
• Contribute to technical decisions, engineering standards, and product architecture
• Collaborate closely with Product, AI, Security, and Engineering teams
Required Experience
• 4+ years of software development experience
• Strong hands-on expertise in asynchronous Python and FastAPI
• Experience designing production-grade backend systems
• Familiarity with LLMs, RAG architectures, or AI-powered products
• Strong experience with relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL
• Excellent problem-solving skills and strong technical ownership
• Ability to thrive in a fast-moving, greenfield startup environment
• Experience with Temporal or similar distributed workflow engines – strong advantage
• Background in cybersecurity or Application Security – strong advantage
• Experience building products from scratch in an early-stage company – strong advantage
