A global revenue technology unicorn is seeking a Director of Platform Security to lead and scale its security engineering organization across cloud, application, platform, and AI environments.
This is a senior leadership opportunity for an experienced security executive who combines deep technical expertise with strong organizational leadership. The role will focus on building a secure-by-default engineering environment, strengthening platform resilience, and enabling R&D teams to move quickly without compromising security.
Key Responsibilities
• Define and execute the company’s platform security strategy across Application Security, Cloud Security, SecDevOps, and AI Security
• Lead, mentor, and scale a multidisciplinary security engineering team
• Establish secure-by-default standards across AWS, Azure, Kubernetes, containers, and multi-tenant cloud environments
• Embed automated security controls, policies, and validation gates into CI/CD pipelines and developer workflows
• Own security architecture across IAM, Zero Trust, WAF, rate limiting, cloud infrastructure, APIs, and runtime environments
• Build scalable security tooling, automated risk-scoring capabilities, and remediation workflows
• Lead the company’s AI security strategy for customer-facing products and internal engineering use
• Define controls for LLMs, AI agents, model integrity, sensitive data protection, and data exfiltration risks
• Own the full vulnerability management lifecycle, including SAST, DAST, open-source scanning, prioritization, remediation tracking, and reporting
• Oversee penetration testing, Red Team and Purple Team activities, and the external Bug Bounty program
• Partner closely with R&D, Infrastructure, Product, DevOps, and Engineering leadership
• Establish measurable security KPIs, including tooling adoption, deployment coverage, vulnerability reduction, and remediation SLAs
• Improve developer experience by making secure engineering practices easier, faster, and more automated
• Support the company’s long-term growth by building security systems, processes, and teams that scale
Required Experience
• 10+ years of experience in Security Engineering, Software Engineering, Platform Security, or a related technical field
• Proven leadership experience building, managing, and scaling security engineering teams
• Experience leading security functions in a high-growth SaaS, cloud, or R&D-driven organization
• Deep expertise in AWS, Azure, Kubernetes, containers, and cloud-native security
• Strong knowledge of Application Security, Platform Security, Cloud Security, and Secure SDLC practices
• Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Crossplane, Pulumi, or similar technologies
• Strong understanding of IAM, Zero Trust, API security, WAF, CI/CD security, and multi-tenant architectures
• Experience designing and operating vulnerability management programs at scale
• Familiarity with modern programming languages such as Python, Java, or TypeScript
• Experience securing AI-powered applications, LLM integrations, AI agents, or machine learning environments
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence senior technical stakeholders
• Strong strategic thinking combined with a practical, execution-focused approach
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and decision-making skills
