A leading global enterprise software company is hiring a Director of AI Security to establish and lead the security function supporting its growing AI and GenAI ecosystem.
This role sits at the intersection of cybersecurity, product architecture, engineering, and executive decision-making. It is designed for a senior security leader who understands both traditional application security and the emerging risks created by AI-enabled products, LLM integrations, and external AI platforms.
Key Responsibilities
• Set the strategic direction for AI security across customer-facing products, internal platforms, and third-party AI services
• Establish security frameworks, technical standards, and governance processes for AI and GenAI adoption
• Review the architecture of complex AI-enabled systems and identify material security risks early in the design process
• Develop practical controls for risks such as prompt injection, sensitive data leakage, model misuse, insecure agent behavior, and external model dependencies
• Integrate AI-focused security requirements into product development, threat modeling, and Secure SDLC processes
• Lead security assessments of LLM-based applications, AI APIs, plugins, agents, and data pipelines
• Guide Application Security, Product Security, architecture, and offensive security activities related to AI systems
• Build and mature security programs that support responsible AI development at enterprise scale
• Manage and develop senior technical security professionals across relevant security disciplines
• Advise engineering and product leaders on design trade-offs, risk acceptance, and mitigation priorities
• Partner with cloud, infrastructure, privacy, legal, compliance, and risk teams on enterprise-wide AI initiatives
• Support incident response and high-priority security decisions involving AI systems, customer data, or third-party platforms
• Present clear security recommendations, risk assessments, and program updates to VP and C-level stakeholders
• Define success metrics and reporting frameworks for AI security maturity, adoption, and risk reduction
Required Experience
• 10+ years of cybersecurity experience within complex technology environments
• At least 3–5 years of leadership responsibility in Application Security, Product Security, Security Architecture, or a related domain
• Proven experience managing security programs within a large, global, or enterprise-scale organization
• Strong background in Secure SDLC, threat modeling, application architecture, API security, and product security
• Practical experience reviewing or securing AI, GenAI, LLM, or machine learning systems
• Understanding of AI-related threat scenarios, including prompt injection, data exposure, model abuse, unsafe integrations, and third-party AI risk
• Demonstrated experience leading architecture reviews and converting technical findings into realistic mitigation plans
• Strong knowledge of cloud-native environments across AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Experience leading senior AppSec engineers, security architects, red teamers, or other advanced technical security professionals
• Proven ability to build, expand, or transform security capabilities and operating models
• Experience influencing senior business and technology leaders in high-pressure and high-visibility situations
• Strong understanding of security incident response and real-time risk decision-making
• Excellent executive communication, stakeholder management, and cross-functional leadership skills
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Software Engineering, or a related discipline
• Relevant security certifications or an advanced academic degree are considered an advantage
