rapidly scaling fintech startup is looking for a Backend Platform Architect to help shape the engineering foundations behind a global payments and commerce platform.
The company is building an alternative infrastructure that enables digital businesses to manage payments, monetization, and customer relationships directly, outside traditional app-store ecosystems.
This is a senior, high-impact role for an experienced backend engineer who has grown into architecture and platform leadership. You will work closely with the CTO and senior technical teams to improve infrastructure, reduce engineering friction, and introduce stronger standards across a fast-growing R&D organization.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead platform and backend architecture across R&D
• Build shared services, tooling, and reusable infrastructure
• Define engineering standards and best practices
• Review designs and guide complex technical decisions
• Drive AI tool adoption together with the CTO
• Lead cross-team infrastructure and platform initiatives
Required Experience
• 7+ years of hands-on backend development experience
• Strong background in microservices, distributed systems, and cloud infrastructure
• Proven experience leading architecture or platform initiatives across multiple engineering teams
• Experience building or improving shared infrastructure, internal platforms, or developer tooling
• Strong knowledge of Kubernetes and Docker
• Experience with messaging, streaming, or batch-processing systems such as Kafka, SQS, Spark, or similar technologies
• Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform
• Strong understanding of scalability, reliability, observability, and production engineering
• Ability to influence technical direction without direct managerial authority
• Collaborative mindset and strong communication skills
Strong Advantages
• Experience in SaaS, fintech, or high-scale transactional systems
• Experience with TypeScript or NestJS
• Background in developer platforms, internal tooling, or AI-assisted development
